The Secret World Game Review
Gaming enthusiasts have finally experienced to be immersed inside The Secret World early this July. According to its makers, the game is largely different from the usual RPGs or MMOs because of the freedom for characters to create their own build, the great combination of real-world and mystical settings, the great integration of legends, myths, and natural human concepts on conspiracy, secret societies, mystery, desire for power or domination, and many others.
Main Features of the Game
The Secret World has lots of new features to boast especially during gameplay, but considered the best ones include the following:
Characters Can Choose Their Own Secret Society or Faction
There are three secret societies that a player can choose for his or her character; the Illuminati, Templar, and Dragon. And unlike other games where factions are mere names that classify characters, The Secret World makes it different. Although the secret societies have the same objective of fighting against evil and the uprising darkness, the gaming experience or adventure in one society differs from the other two. Each have their own way for a character to gain experience, learn skills, acquire weapons, etc. With the game, characters of the three societies may also encounter confrontations or battles.
The Secret World Doesn't Use Character Levels and Classes
Most MMOs or RPGs feature leveling and the differentiation of a character within certain classes. But with The Secret World, character leveling is eliminated. A player is no longer required to achieve a certain character level to learn skills or abilities, to travel other islands, areas, or maps, or perhaps, to gear to battle. The only basis for character progression will have to be the experience acquired during the entire gameplay. On the other hand, player classes that tend to limit the player's ability are removed. Thus, a character may use the ability or skill points that he or she earns to learn any of his desired fighting or defending abilities.
The Players Can Roam Around Familiar and Mythical Locations
During gameplay, players will eventually come across familiar locations as well as the mythical ones. Some of the popular locations used include the busy districts of New York, London, and Seoul. Legendary landmarks such as Stonehenge, El Dorado, and Shambala also have their own places within the game.
The Secret World Has a Unique Story or Plot
The game doesn't allow the player just to go out, travel, roam, and slay. For each adventure, there's a story to tell, and myths or legends to encounter. You might even be surprised that some of the myths or legends that you know have their own interpretation within the game. Players may also have a chance to meet some of the familiar names only found on history or legend books or stories.
Freedom to Choose Armors and Weapons
Since the characters are not limited by any class, players are also free to dress and equip their characters with the armors and weapons they desire. Weapons or dresses are usually bought from the shops within the metropolis. Changing gears and weapon is also allowed during each character battle.
Most of the gamers who were the first ones to try the game out made favorable ratings for The Secret World. According to other reviews; the game requires the player to think and strategize, combat styles and effects are unique, there are excellent settings or locations, and the character progression or the learning curve is better. On the other hand, among the drawbacks that players see include the massive installation size, the requirement of a good PC to run it, and the overwhelming choices and strategies that may be encountered by beginning players.
